“I always wondered why ‘somebody’ didn’t
do something about that. Then I realized
I was (that) somebody.”
-Lily Tomlin

Today, “doing something” has become more important as the economy continues to impact our local communities and organizations.Dallas is home to a number of outstanding community organizations. If your company or organizations wants to form a social partnership with non-profit or social service agency in Dallas here are some recommendations for you. All do outstanding work.

The mission of the Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation is “Instilling Hope into Young Lives.” Using a best practices approach, this foundation works to make the Vickery Meadow area of Dallas a great community by helping its children reach their full potential. They help fund programs directed toward academic achievement, after school activities, summer programs, early childhood development and scholarships for area youth. They also have a unique funding pledge — all monies donated to the foundation go to fund programs, none are used to fund administrative expenses.
This unique one of a kind agency helped Dallas become the first city in North American to be recognized by the World Health Organization as a “Safe Community.” Established as a partnership among Baylor Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Parkland Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital, the agency works to cut down the number of visits to area hospital emergency rooms from preventable injuries.
This center is a non-profit public/private collaboration that provides a coordinated, multi-agency approach to the investigation, intervention and treatment of child sexual and physical abuse.
This North Texas agency seeks to eliminate hunger by distributing food and grocery products through a network of non-profit organizations while providing education and increasing community awareness on issues of hunger.
